No in the end he misunderstood, but he assumed squall did not trust his allies, that is a sign of weakness and when your in a fight depending on your opponents frame of mind you approach them a certain way, more or less effort would be required dependant on your opponent, WOL is an experinced warrior so he knows this.

Yes but even if Squall didn't trust his allies and made it all this way by himself wouldn't the assumption be that "This guy is pretty tough" and Los sometimes you make it sound as if Squall isnt experienced at all and that hes one of the weakest

We don't know if wol and squall trained in this cycle it canot be known very well. It did seem like they were familiar with each other and squall didn't seem to like wol much I doubt they spared much together since the did not seem to take a liking to each other. Weakness of the heart can make all the difference in a fight, fighting is also about brains not just raw power, depending on what mind set you are in your opponent can determine if it would take more or less effort, or if there is a certain tactic they should use that would be ineffective in a normal case. Squall is powerful and not meant to be underestimated. Not assuming the trained together less than the others but you cannot assume they did enough to gather a good amount of info on each other or much of anything about their training cept what was shown and through their relationships with each other.

No because wol did the same thing it is not impressive to him even cloud could have done that he just didn't. All he saw him as was some scrub trying to do everything himself and being stubborn and figured he would show him the right way since WOL is kinda like the wisest of all the cosmos warriors sorta, like a big bro because after all he is the first FF char the creators would likely think of such a thing even if he does not have all of his memories he instinctively remembers certain shit.

Well his military training that hes been in since a child is a big piece of evidence to say hes skilled swordsmanship wise as for Squall not liking wol thats not the case he makes it seem as if he doesnt like anyone but truth is what he does he does it for his allies not only for himself why do you think Squall was gonna fight garland and ultimecia? he said these words "If i take out you two it will make it easier for them" he obviously cares about all his allies as for brains considering hes an army general or whatever we can say Squall is very smart.
