What is confirmed is that is will explain some orgin behind ganondorf and the sacred realm. I doubt we will be lucky enough for it to explain the orgin of fierce deity but it might be close to it. Might even explain the orgin of majora, maybe this link is the one who sings to it until it dies but then again that is a termenia legend who knows how this shit is gonna go down.

well majora is only a termina legend because it was the last place to be seen seen, the rest of the world forgot about it. hell ghirahim might be majora, who knows how shit will go

Dunno if what I read was right, but the game's really supposed to take place in well...the sky. During the creation of hyrule. Ganon is not in the game. Zelda is not a princess. And the Master Sword didnt exist yet. l:
